KC Fringe "Hamlet vs. Zombies" review by KeeganLampert

My favorite show thus far!
Rating: 5

Hamlet vs. Zombies
KC Fringe Festival

If you enjoy Shakespeare, zombie flicks, the idea of a gangbang between them both, or just good unadulterated fun, then I highly recommend "Hamlet vs. Zombies".

The script? Great. A little slow in the beginning, but it picks up and packs in a bunch of amusing tidbits and one-liners. The seamless juxtaposition of Shakespearean speech and 21st century jibber-jabber is wonderfully done. For those of the "hip" age, references and uses of modern technology and lifestyles are hilariously intertwined with ol' Billy's timeless script.

Acting? The beauty of the show is that it all seems so natural -- my favorite quality in a show. Not once does it feel like Actor A is delivering a prepared statement to Actor B. Each actor conveys an amusing and believable performance. it was wonderful. Absolutely no complaints.

The presentation? Grand. As aforementioned, the first ten minutes or so are a little slow, but after that? A wonderful time is had. And honestly, I never broke out in laughter -- I smiled innumerable times and even chuckled a few times, but the beauty of the show is how it all comes together so seamlessly. It's in the vein of "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" -- that is, to say, that it is genius in both concept and execution.

The verdict? Go see this show if any of the initial conditions applies to you.

It's fun -- real fun.
