Kauffman Center in the snow

Even though I already have probably a thousand photos involving the Kauffman Center, I had about none with snow, and someone has expressed interest in licensing some snow/KPAC pics, so I grabbed a few in case.

British traveler tours jazz, bbq, and the Kauffman Center

I left my heart in Kansas City. That reads like a Tony Bennett song or a film noir. In fact, I left it in Chicago, next door, and it was taken, not left. A younger me followed a damsel across states in pursuit of, well... something.

Gigapixel photos of the Kauffman Center by Phil Peterson

The Kauffman Center For The Performing Arts is one of the top performing arts centers in the world. Inaugurated in September 2011, its hosted shows ranging from Alvin Ailey to Willy Nelson. Located at 16th and Broadway, the curvaceous structure adds modern lines to the Kansas City skyline. Working in the cold and blowing snow, I made this 100 image composite that 333 million pixels and if printed at full size, would be 26.6' wide and 16.25' tall.

Carol Burnett, Kauffman Center preview by Hearne Christopher

Lemme tell you what I mostly know about Carol Burnett…  Along with Lucille Ball she was one of my mother’s favorites. Two looney ladies of the 50s, 60s and 70s – Burnett being the one who did the Tarzan yell.

Tony Botello tours the Kauffman Center

Kansas City cheerleaders and other media outlets advised us that there was an open house today at the Kauffman Center For The Performing Arts. Given that most of this year has been dedicated to hype and endless public kowtowing to some white lady and her money who owns the place . . . I decided to check it out and see the anchor for the gentrification that hopes to move TKC away from the loop.

Dan Moreno questions the fairness of sports vs. arts

Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to go to the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts—you know, that beautiful, amazing building on Broadway in the Crossroads District that has quickly become an architectural icon of our city. Ever since its grand opening in 2011, I dreamed about going one night and enjoying the magic of symphonic music.

Broken window at the Kauffman Center

At night, the glass-enclosed lobby glows red and blue, as the carpeting adds hints of color to the white walls. But during the day, if you look closely enough on the west side of the building, along Broadway, you'll notice something else: broken glass. A window in one of the top rows of the four-story-tall lobby is fractured.
