"Complete History of Western Civilization" is a zany and irreverent puppet show that focuses on oppression throughout history. Those choosing to sit in the first several rows should be warned that a beach-ball version of the globe is launched from the stage, a puppet flings dirt and spurts blood quite a distance, water is sprayed, and a Jesus doll ascends on a trajectory that collides with audience members before it reaches its heavenly target.
A variety of hand puppets and dolls (some of them naked) portray various gods, rulers, warriors, Romans, Scots and Frenchmen. There are also several appearances by a school bus load of Jews -- arguably the most oppressed group in Western history. All in all, this show's a lot more fun than Cliff Notes ... and a tad messier.
