KC Fringe "Bottoms Up Sketch Comedy" review by Rabid_Reviewer

Cheers to Bottom's Up
Rating: 4

Bottoms Up Sketch Comedy Show
KC Fringe Festival

Somewhat reminiscent of "Mr. Show with Bob and David", Bottom's Up sketch comedy is an enjoyable evening of the best of their past season.  As a "Best of..." show, I found that some of the skits did not play as well as others.

Overall, it's a nicely paced bit of comedy, relying heavily on wordplay and innuendo.  My favorite bit was a running gag with a couple of workout nuts who hate "Public displays of..."  The word substitions for "affection" were extremely difficult to predict and cleverly set up.

Scene shifts were made even more enjoyable by the selection of songs used underneath the changes.  The musical selection put me in a receptive mood, helping the flow of the as well as putting a nice counterpoint to the scenes we were watching.

There's not a lot to say about this show.  It's sketch comedy.  It's presented well.  It's pretty funny for the most part.  Not all of it works, but most of it does.

You'll walk away feeling like you've had a pretty good time.
