KC Fringe "Pilgrimage" review by timlovestheatre

Rating: 5

Pilgrimage
KC Fringe Festival

Pilgrimage is a highly inventive new approach to the Canterbury Tales. Ry Kincaid (books, music, lyrics and the part of Poet) has brought a music infused version of the tales that at once maintains the flavor of the old while spicing it up with the modern. The tales themselves are not each equally exciting. But, Kincaid's work gives each of the tales and each of the talented performers onstage a moment to shine.

The cast is made up of some of the best actor/musicians in the city Damron Armstrong, Ben Byard, Coleman Crenshaw, Celia Gannon, Katie Gilchrist, Sean Hogge, Amy Kelly, Jerod Rivers, Vi Tran, Nick Uthoff, Cody Wyoming and Eryn Bates Preston (who doubled as music director) as well as Kincaid himself who filled in many spots for the band.

Props go out to Bob Paisley, who directed the show. He was somehow able to take all of the creative chaos these performers bring and aim it in one solid and cohesive direction.

Funny, great music and a fun time. Don't be the one to miss out!
