KC Fringe "Pilgrimage" review by andiam

One flaw in otherwise delightful show

Pilgrimage
KC Fringe Festival

Let's start with the flaw, which one other reviewer has also mentioned. What makes show tunes entertaining is the perfect blending of words and music. Too many of the words were muffled by the loud accompaniment. I know some people like loud music, but this show apparently had lyrics that deserved to be heard. Otherwise, the show was remarkably tuneful, and there were some truly rousing gospel-style numbers that had the potential to rock the house. I also loved the concept of modernizing the context of the Tales. This show has real potential, maybe to be expanded into a full-length musical. Just let us hear the words.
