Kevin Willmott recalls receiving a key piece of advice before he ever shot a movie.  “One of the first things I heard was if you’re going to make a ‘black film,’ make it a comedy,” he says. “That’s true. That’s why Tyler Perry has had so much success. It’s hard for anyone to make a drama these days.”
