Liberty Symphony seeking Board of Directors
The Liberty Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is currently accepting applications for community members to serve on its Board of Directors.
LSO, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors, who meet at 7:30pm the second Monday of every month, September through June. Board members serve three year terms. In addition to board meetings, members are involved in a variety of capacities, including: fund development, event planning, on-site concert support and community relations.
Board service is an excellent opportunity to serve the community, develop new friendships, and network with other community leaders. Applicants should submit a resume and short description of their background and interest in serving with the LSO Board of Directors via email to info@libertysymphony.org by March 15, 2010. For additional information, please contact Cory Unrein, Executive Director, 816-415-7832.
The Liberty Symphony Orchestra, a 501c3 organization, was founded in 1971 in Liberty, Missouri, through the efforts of its founding conductor, Dr. Phillip C. Posey, and the assistance of William Jewell College. Each year, the Symphony presents a series of four regular concerts and a series of educational concerts.
Originally a small college and community orchestra, the Liberty Symphony has grown into a mature symphonic ensemble with complete instrumentation and a growing command of the world's great literature. More than 80 professional and amateur musicians, representing Liberty and virtually every community in the northern metropolitan area, comprise an ensemble dedicated to the finest in symphonic performance.
The mission of the Liberty Symphony Orchestra is to enhance the quality of life in the greater Liberty community by promoting the enjoyment and appreciation of classical music.
