Barn Players seeking directors

The Barn Players is seeking directors for a summer musical benefit and it's Barn Junior production of A Year with Frog and Toad.


SUMMER MUSICAL BENEFIT
Submit a letter of application to The Barn Players, along with your resume. An interview will then be scheduled with the the artistic director and the asst. artistic director.
  • DEADLINE: March 31st, 2010. 
  • AUDITION: at the director’s discretion in conjunction with the Artistic Director. 
  • REHEARSAL PERIOD: July 12-August 5
    PERFORMANCE WEEK: August 6 & 7 at 7:30pm and August 8 at 2:30pm 
  • SHOW: The musical content of the show will be women’s songs from musicals of the last century.
The director for the summer musical benefit is responsible for:
  • executing the artistic interpretation of the show.
  • Hiring the production staff for the show.
  • Casting the show through open auditions.
  • securing a musical director or acting as their own.
  • collaborating on design elements with the Technical Director and the Facility Coordinator of The Barn Players 
  • designing a daily rehearsal schedule. maintaining open, regular and professional communication with the cast production team, artistic director and asst. artistic director

A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD
Submit a letter of application to The Barn Players, along with your resume. An interview will then be scheduled with the Educational Coordinator and The Artistic Director.
  • DEADLINE: March 31st, 2010
  • INITIAL PARENT MEETING ~ July 7th (tentative)
  • TWO-WEEK INTENSIVE REHEARSALS ~ July 12-23 (Monday through Friday from 10am-4pm)
  • PERFORMANCE WEEK ~ July 26-28 (Tech Day on the 26 and performances at 7:00pm on July 27 28 & 29)
  • STIPEND: $350
The director for the summer series Barn Jr. show is responsible for:
  • executing the artistic interpretation of the show.
  • securing a musical director or acting as their own.
  • collaborating on design elements with the director & designers of the main show ("The Vagina Monologues").
  • integrating The Barn Jr curriculum into daily rehearsals based on collaboration with the Educational Director,
  • providing high-quality performance instruction during rehearsals.
  • ensuring that instruction and performance expectations are appropriate for the varied levels of experience present in the cast.
  • managing 20-25 students via enforceable behavioral expectations and clear procedures.
  • designing a daily rehearsal routine that balances the needs of the show with what is age-appropriate for students
  • maintaining open, regular and professional communication with parents.
  • managing 2-3 high school intern assistants (to be hired by Education Coordinator) and hiring the production team with input from the Educational Director.
  • ensuring that all production team members follow Barn policies for working with youth.
