The annual family carnival event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Roger T. Sermon Community Center at the southeast corner of Truman and Noland roads in Independence. The Powerhouse Theatre Foundation sponsors the event as a fundraiser for local theater groups in cooperation with Independence Parks and Recreation. Admission is free, and game tickets are 25 cents each. The Puppetry Arts Institute, American Rhythm Dancers and Independence Ballet Conservatory will perform short shows throughout the day.
