The Kansas City Chorale filled midtown’s Redemptorist Church
with exquisite sound Sunday afternoon with a selection of Christmas
songs and carols from England. It eschewed, however, the typical,
cringingly jolly fare often heard around this time of the year.
Instead, the chorale presented works that harked back to a darker, more
mysterious season, with ancient texts in modern settings by English
composers.
