KC Symphony, Michael Feinstein review by Robert Folsom

Singer Michael Feinstein has an easily identifiable voice that suits the Great American Songbook: It’s soft enough for romantic standards and flexible enough for swing. So when Feinstein presented a tribute to Frank Sinatra Friday night as part of the Kansas City Symphony Pops Series, he didn’t even try to impersonate Ol’ Blue Eyes. Instead he built a program on what-ifs such as, what if Sinatra had recorded “Fly Me to the Moon” the way it was intended –- as a ballad?
