The Lyric Opera of Kansas City offered a sturdy and representative
evening of light opera with its production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s
“The Mikado.” Directed by William Theisen, this was the closer for their
second season in Muriel Kauffman Theatre and was full of whimsical,
absurdist touches.
