“A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens has been performed in movies,
cartoons, by Muppets and on the stage. Some of the biggest names in
entertainment have played Ebenezer Scrooge; Jim Carrey, George C. Scott,
Michael Caine and Seymour Hicks (Scrooge in the first sound adaption in
1935). None of those performances holds a candle to the one given by
Gary Neal Johnson, the supporting cast and ensemble on Saturday night at
the Kansas City Repertory Theatre’s production of the Christmas classic.
