Jazz has come a long, long way from the jumping gin joints and smoky speakeasies where it evolved. On Friday night, the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra brought the sounds of Count Basie’s legendary orchestra to Helzberg Hall as it celebrated the start of its 10th season.
