  • McCormick Company produced a television commercial in the KC area for Pioneer. BranitFX assisted in post-production effects.
  • Heather Laird of Wright/Laird Casting was looking for an Italian grandmother older than 70-years-old for a grocery store commercial.
  • Stephen Pruitt’s new feature Terminal has begun shooting in KC. He is looking for unpaid extras. Contact Susanna Greusel at smgreusel@gmail.com with your e-mail address, age, gender, telephone number, and availability if interested.
  • Two commercials which will run nationally were shot in Branson for the Professional Golfer’s Association (PGA). Jackson-Appleton was the production company and Backstage Connections provided set design. Both companies are Branson-based.
  • HGTV has been casting for its fifth season of Bang for Your Buck. Shooting was scheduled for the first part of Sept. in St. Louis.
  • KC writer and producer Paula Smith has a new movie being developed. Caruso and The Sword is the working title. Go to http://kea.nu/caruso for information.
  • The Canadian Food Network has a new television show called The Opener. Frantic Films from Winnipeg was in the Springfield restaurant Savor in Aug. shooting a new episode.
  • Matt Kohn, who visited KC with his movie Call it Democracy, was back showing footage he shot of Manute Bol’s funeral in Sudan. Mr. Kohn was looking for a couple of camera people and a PA/sound person to record interviews at Mr. Bol’s memorial service in Olathe.
  • Wamego, Kan., native Steve Balderson is gearing up to shoot another feature movie. The working title is The Casserole Club and shoot dates are scheduled Oct. through Nov. in Wamego.
  • Gitchigumi Films produced several commercials in KC for The Missouri Lottery.
  • The History Channel spent a week in St. Louis shooting for a series.
    VPR Creative Group shot an infomercial in KC at StagePort Studios.
