Every day, Missouri Contemporary Ballet dancers exert incredible control over their bodies and, indeed, many of their precise, poetic movements involve heels firmly planted in place or toes positioned en pointe. Yet Artistic Director Karen Mareck Grundy doesn’t want her company to play it safe — she sees MCB heading over the edge of a cliff and is encouraging its members to move forward, excited about the free fall ahead.
