I saw the first performance of Game Pieces at the Paragraph Gallery in downtown Kansas City a couple of months ago. I watched the entire performance and couldn't honestly tell you what I was witnessing. Fifteen-plus musicians had donned knee pads, crash helmets and safety goggles and — as if all of the performers were playing different songs at the same time — created a throttling wall of noise.
