Some good things . . . some okay things . . . but one performer who can't sing or project his voice. It was an up-and-down evening, enjoyed by all the friends and family in the audience.
On the whole, it was nice to see this musical produced; it's not an easy score to sing. But these are New Yorkers with money, and there was no indication of this from the costumes. A concert presentation means music stands for a set, so why not do your utmost to look like the character: the men should wear dress pants with A BELT, a pressed shirt, and a sport coat. The orchestra was wonderful!
I'm looking forward to what this group does in the future. They're willing to take some risks.
