The Theatre in the Park announces new exec. director

The Johnson County Park & Recreation District is very excited to announce the appointment of Tim Bair as the new Executive Producer of The Theatre in the Park. Bair is a well-seasoned theater administrator, director, and choreographer, who comes to TTIP from Sunnyvale, Calif. He has worked as Artistic Director for the American Musical Theatre of San Jose, in San Jose, Calif., and as Artistic Director for The Millbrook Playhouse in Lockhaven, Penn. Bair's experience as director and choreographer includes Big League Theatricals in New York City, Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities in Denver, Theatreworks National Touring Theatre, Rockwell Productions, ABC Television Network, Actors Theatre of Phoenix, and The Hillbarn Theatre in Foster City, Calif.

Bair has also been a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Penn. He notes that his early years as a featured vocalist for Royal Cruise Lines allowed him the opportunity to travel the world. He was able to tour Europe with the Broadway shows 42nd Street and My One and Only.

Bair grew up in Kansas City, attended Wyandotte High School, and he is very excited to have found a theatrical home back in his hometown. He notes that he "spent many happy nights on the stage at The Theatre in the 1980's, both as a performer and as a member of several artistic staffs." Bair reminisces "what great memories I have of performing under the stars and of the wonderful work that so many talented folks produced….entertaining countless thousands of people!"

Bair believes that art and theater exist to nourish our human spirits. He stated his goal had been to find "a theatrical home that will allow me to contribute to the artistic spirit of a community of artists, enthusiasts, and supporters."

"We are delighted to welcome Tim 'back home' and we look forward to his contributions to the artistic spirit of The Theatre in the Park community," said Jill Geller, Superintendent of Recreation.
