Time to vacate the 700 MHz spectrum

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued an Order and a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking making effective their call for wireless microphone users to vacate the 700 MHz spectrum by June 12, 2010. Performing arts organizations using wireless microphones must comply with the FCC's order and leave the 700 MHz Band as soon as possible.

To aid in this process, the FCC has made available an online resource for wireless microphone users that includes a Manufacturers Equipment list of affected wireless microphone systems and a Frequently Asked Questions section. You can also call the main FCC switchboard at 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322) and select Option #2 to speak with someone about vacating the 700 MHz Band.

In addition to the above, two member organizations of the Performing Arts Alliance have created resources to help members through this transition process: Association of Performing Arts Presenters and Theatre Communications Group
