Theatre for Young America changes season lineup

Theatre for Young America will present The Dinosaur Play by Steve and Kathy Hotchner for its opening show of the 2010-11 season.  Harold and the Purple Crayon, which was to open the season, will be postponed until the following year.

Theatre for Young America selected The Dinosaur Play because it complements the exhibit of Dinosaur’s Unearthed and the movie presentation Dinosaurs Alive 3-D currently offered at Union Station.  The Dinosaur Play and the six other plays in the 2010-11 season will be performed on the H&R Block City Stage located on level B of Union Station, 30 W. Pershing Road in Kansas City, Missouri.  For ticket information call 816-460-2083.

THE DINOSAUR PLAY
October 10 through November 6, 2010

This interactive play invites children back to a time eons ago, to the final days of the dinosaurs.  In a misty swamp, Mammal, who acts as The Guide, encounters Egg.  Egg, also known as Little Tank, vigorously taps inside his shell.  Mammal asks the children in the audience to help Mammal understand what Egg wants and needs.  Where is Egg’s mother?  When Tank (a Triceratops) arrives, will that riddle be solved?  And just what does Brontosaurus (Apatosaurus) have to do with it all? Always lurking in the background is the thunderous Tyrannosaurus Rex.  Will Egg hatch in time?  It is up to the kids to save them all!  Union Station offers a special combination ticket price for this play and the exhibit.  For combo tickets call 816.460.2020 or visit the Union Station website at www.unionstation.org.
