KC Symphony receives challenge grant of $300,000
The Kansas City Symphony has received a challenge grant of $300,000 from anonymous donors. To meet the challenge, the Symphony must raise the same amount by June 30 -- the end of the Symphony's fiscal year -- through new or additional gifts from individuals. The challenge, "Match the Match 4," comes on the heels of a successful $250,000 challenge by anonymous donors the last two seasons, and a $150,000 challenge the year before. More than 2,200 people responded to the 2009 challenge -- a 500-gift increase from the previous season, and nearly 1,000 more than the 2007 match campaign. The Symphony, with a budget of about $11.6 million, receives only 30 percent of its revenue through ticket sales. Virtually all of the balance comes from contributions from the community. To make a gift to the Symphony, or for more information, contact Director of Development Ron Fredman at (816) 218.2646 or rfredman@kcsymphony.org, or visit the Symphony's Web site, www.kcsymphony.org .
