Kennedy Center president Michael Kaiser recently spoke in Kansas City about how nonprofit arts can survive in tough economic times. Kaiser has been dubbed "the turnaround king" for reviving ailing cultural institutions, including the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, London's Royal Opera House and Kansas City Ballet. He's touring the country to deliver the message from his book "The Art of the Turnaround," which details 10 basic rules for saving troubled arts organizations.
