Singers can audition before the Metropolitan Opera National Council starting at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Performing Arts Building at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Judges will be Roger Pines, dramaturg from Lyric Opera Chicago; Richard Bado, chorus master of Houston Grand Opera; and Patricia Wise, soprano and professor of voice at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Winners of this district competition will compete in the regional auditions Feb. 13 in St. Louis. The winner of that contest will compete in the national semifinals March 7 at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. The Grand Finals Concert will be March 14, a ticketed event with full orchestra.
