Living Room "Fool for Love" review by Robert Trussell


Welcome to Sam Shepard country. Shepard was and is an utterly unique voice among American playwrights. Few other dramatists have been so drawn to the death of the American West — or, to be precise, the myth of the West — and nobody can match Shepard’s gift for creating what might be called tactile surrealism. He places his characters in realistic physical environments and then spins a sort of dreamscape of conflict, sadness and resignation.
