Since its inception in 2004, Quixotic Fusion has aspired to be more than a local troupe of part-time dancers, musicians, aerialists, video artists and fashion and lighting designers. It has wanted to become a national touring act. This year, it expects to make considerable progress in that direction.

I am a devoted follower of your group and just returned home from the Lawrence performance. I wanted to provide some feedback. Even though this is only one response, I can assure you that my disappointment in the performance tonight was shared by many.
ReplyDeleteThe DJ music was way too long. Years ago I attended a Tina Turner performance. The opening act was Joe Cocker. He was on for 40 minutes, Tina was on for two hours. The only saving grace was when I , as did many, beg the ushers to cut the DJ droning short and we heard at 9 PM that there was another half hour before Quixotic Fusion. I happily reported back to my group that we only had one more song to endure.
Quixotic Fusion became interesting for its music, its dancing and the blending of the two. The light shows took things to the level of Ringling Barnum and Bailey. One violinist solo was more like fiddling the polka with all the lights and distractions. One of our group left their camera in the car because we assumed pictures were not allowed. After being strobed to excess, we decided that maybe we should take pictures so you could see what it is like to have someone shoot flashes in your eyes all the time. The lights were over the top. If you like the lights, shine them on yourself. That is who we came to see in the first place.
Asking the audience to boogie down with you was an incredible paradox. Your dancers have always danced beautifully, as they did tonight. How did they feel sharing the stage with the bouncing red clown in front of their center stage?
You know if this was the new look and feel of Quixotic Fusion stepping out of the KC area you might do well to remember two things. It should now be very apparent to you that the grass is not always greener on the other side ,and as Dorothy said "there is no place like home".
I hope that you rethink this new direction.
