Marc Myers, Hermon Mehari discuss jazz with Steve Kraske

The sweet notes of smooth jazz are well-known to anyone who’s delved into Kansas City’s history, but jazz is still evolving today. On Thursday's Up to Date, we’ll talk with Marc Myers, author of Why Jazz Happened, about how world events have helped shape the sound of jazz, as it has has grown and changed since World War II. Later in the hour, Steve Kraske welcomes jazz trumpeter Hermon Mehari to talk about how his background led him to become a jazz musician and what he thinks of the jazz scene in Kansas City today. Finally, Brian McTavish returns with our Weekend To-Do List.
