Although she had built a loyal following among club-goers after moving to New York City in 1965, it wasn't until four years later that most of us came to know Lily Tomlin. Her characters for TV's "Laugh-In": the irascible, prune-faced telephone operator Ernestine; the precocious sandbox philosopher, six-year-old Edith Ann; and the Tasteful Lady, imperious and upper-class, made her instantly recognizable across the country. Today Tomlin talks about the milestones in her career, how she was able to succeed across so many venues, and what she's doing on her current stand-up jaunt around the country.
