University of Central Missouri 2010-11 Season

Season tickets are now available for the 2010-2011 production season for the Department of Theatre at the University of Central Missouri. The season ticket package include four mainstage productions and the dance concert for $45 for the general public; $40 for faculty, staff and senior citizens, and $30 for students.  Season ticket holders also receive substantial savings, choice seating, ticket insurance and exchange privileges. To purchase season tickets, contact the Department of Theatre office at 660-543-4020.  All shows will be presented in the Highlander Theatre.  Please remember, children under the age of 5 will not be admitted.
  • The season opens with A Chorus Line Oct. 6-10, a joint production by the Department of Theatre and the Department of Music. Richard Herman, professor of theatre and department chair, will direct with musical direction by Jacob Sentgeorge, assistant professor of music, and Robert Lawrence, associate professor of music, and choreography by Ashley Miller, assistant professor of theatre.
  • November 10-18 Aristophanes’ The Birds will land on the Highlander stage. From the set to the costumes, this production will be produced using only recycled materials for a completely “green” production under the direction of Julie Rae Mollenkamp, professor of theatre.
  • Mollenkamp also will direct The Clean House by Sarah Ruhl Feb. 16-19.  This award-winning romantic comedy follows the musings of Brazilian maid Matilda, who hates to clean.  She works for Lane, who doesn’t have time to clean.  They both adore Lane’s sister Virginia, who loves to clean. They find love and laughter in surprising places and come to realize that life’s pleasures lie as much in messiness as in orderliness.
  • Following a sold-out season debut last year, Miller will be the artistic director for the spring dance concert, Rise to the Rhythm, March 11-12.  This will be an evening of contemporary dance choreographed by the best of UCM’s students and faculty.
  • The season will close with The Three Musketeers by Ken Ludwig April 19-23.  John Wilson, professor of theatre, will direct this swashbuckling tale of heroism, treachery, and honor with more than 20 steel-slinging sword fights.
