Since the film industry began, women have played a minimal role in film production. Traditionally, the film industry has been dominated by men. Today, women have a voice in film but only in some instances. During the past five years, women have begun to play a larger role in film. More have been taking the role of producer and/or director. However, only 6 percent of today’s directors are female.
