Let’s face it: Mental illness is as American as apple pie. Especially in the theater. Think Tennessee Williams and Eugene O’Neill. Those gentlemen, among other playwrights, dissected the effects of psychological afflictions and emotional disorders on family relationships with a surgeon’s skill.
