"Prelude to a Kiss" presents an interesting twist for a fantasy comedy. Unfortunately, The Barn's version falls short of the material. While the actors tried valiantly, no chemistry develops between any of the characters at any time. The first scenes showed promise as the uncomfortable initial meeting occurs between the main characters. The problem exists in that the uncomfortable meeting never develops into a real chemistry. The same happened when the couple meets the parents. Yes, the uncomfortable and awkward meeting is great, but it stops there.
If you expect to see characters change or grow, set your expectations low. It didn't happen for me. Perhaps I expected too much. Others may find this enchanting. I did not.
