With an early nod to Gershwin's great opera "Porgy and Bess" and a refreshing foray out into the parks and streets of Columbia, the Missouri Symphony Society is putting literal meaning to the phrase "Hot Summer Nights," the title of its annual summer music series. Maestro Kirk Trevor, also the artistic director of the series, has planned a schedule of concerts both inside the air-conditioned elegance of the symphony's home venue, the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts, as well as at outdoor hot spots outside the downtown area.
