Local actor Karen Errington was hit with a return of breast cancer in early December. She has been a 10-year cancer survivor but learned that the cancer had returned, is very aggressive and is rated by the great staff at the KU Cancer Center as a Stage IV. Karen has begun an equally aggressive series of treatment to stop this cancer, and you can read her story and keep up with her progress at the CaringBridge.org website that has been set up:

Kansas City's Theatre community is rallying to help the family and has been providing meals and support as Karen battles this disease. The family is having financial hardship because of loss of work, medical deductibles, medication co-pays and a host of expenses incurred even with medical insurance. The greatest strain has been caused because Karen had to withdraw from her holiday show at the Quality Hill Playhouse and her husband, actor David Fritts, withdrew from the Unicorn's January/February production to help take care of Karen and their son handsome Jack.

Benefit Show
Musical Theatre Heritage is presenting Everybody's Girl, a benefit for Karen Errington and her battle against cancer, at the Off Center Theatre in Crown Center on Friday, February 25. All proceeds from ticket sales, silent auction, and bar sales will help Karen and her family to help bring her victory. The silent auction begins at 7pm and live performances begin at 8pm. Benefit Garage Sale
Susie Adamson and Kathi Krouch have once again offered to host an Actor Benefit Garage Sale for Karen Errington and David Fritts. They spearheaded a sale several years ago for Betsy and Mark Robbins. We were able to knock out $6,000 of their medical bills with this two-day event! Theatre artists and audience members donated items and worked all aspects of the sale, led by Susie and Kathi’s expertise.
Susie and Kathi’s home is in Brookside – at Meyer Blvd and Main. They are seasoned garage sale folks and really know how to organize a great sale. Garage sale “regulars” have come to expect good sales at their address. I think we should take advantage of their offer and get a jump on the spring garage sale market! March 25 & 26 (Fri & Sat) are the dates selected. They have tents and heaters in case the weather turns against us. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade goes right by their house, so they will have signs in the yard to advertise. Of course we’ll have newspaper, radio, & social networking to spearhead the news.
