Every city has its own feel, its own vibe, its own tempo. And, as in a piece of music, that tempo can change in just a measure of time. Each summer, as university students scatter to points unknown and families seize a chance to vacation, the pace in Columbia can slow from an active allegro to a more ambling adagio.
