Theatre Atchison's 'The 39 Steps' a Theatrical Treat

The 39 Steps
Theatre Atchison
Tucked away near the banks of the Missouri River in Atchison, Kansas is an absolute gem of a community theatre. They continually bring high-quality entertainment to the surrounding community and their most recent and current production - "The 39 Steps" - is no exception.
Guest director Carole Ries has assembled a remarkably talented cast of four actors (and one Foley artist) portraying 50 plus characters, changing hats, jackets and persona right before the audience. The pace and the comic timing is absolutely astonishing and the multitude of English and Scottish accents are incredibly well done.
I find it difficult to single out a particular actor or two as this is truly an ensemble piece from beginning to end and all of the performances were first-rate. Breanna Danielle portrayed multiple characters Anna-Bella-Margaret-and Pamala. Corbin Hernandez played Richard Hannay. Gary Linhart and John Henningsen were Clown 1 and Clown 2 playing multiple-multiple roles.
And Kari Rydalch served brilliantly as the Foley artist. The scenic design by Glenn Anderson, the costumes by Connie Shalz, and the lighting design by Cornin Hernandez enhanced the production beyond measure.
Theatre Atchison can be very proud of their continued superlative productions. Performances continue this coming weekend (June 8, 9, and 10). It really is worth the drive to come see this production.
