- Auditions were scheduled in Lawrence for the new movie The Sublime and Beautiful. The feature stars Laura Kirk (Lisa Picard is Famous), Armin Shimerman (Star Trek: Deep Space 9), Scott Winters (Good Will Hunting) and Matthew Del Negro (The Sopranos). Blake Robbins (The Office) is writer and director.
- Jon Aley, Kansas City Arts Institute graduate, is visiting KC and is seeking a director of photography. He wants to shoot three or four short movies while here. Contact him at jaley1@gmail.com.
- Eric Smith of KC was hired as director of photography for The Travel Channel’s Truck Stop Missouri. The location is Midway Truck Stop near Columbia.
- Jon Weimer is writing and planning to shoot a feature version of the classic 19th-century gothic novel Carmilla in 2012. Visit his Facebook group at http://kea.nu/carmilla.
- A reality show is shooting footage in KC in March and looking for production assistants.
- Screenland Crown Center and Cinema KC is offering a special screening of Micky McGee and the Magic Library on Mar 3 at 2 pm. Produced by Denny Dey Independent Film, it stars Colin Arians and Dean Mehling. The screening is $5, and if you show up by 1:45 pm, you can receive a library card in the lobby.
