Bill will direct Missouri Arts Council funds to Juneteenth festival

On Tuesday, March 6, Kansas City Rep. Michael Brown introduced legislation that would take 10% of the non-resident professional athletes and entertainers tax away from the Missouri Arts Council. Currently, state statute reads that 60% of the A&E tax will go to fund the Missouri Arts Council.

House Bill 1898, creates the Missouri Juneteenth Heritage Memorial Fund and changes the distribution of funds from the professional athletes and entertainers tax. The new legislation would appropriate 50% to the Arts and 10% to this new entity.

A hearing has been scheduled for the bill on Monday, March 19, at 6:00 p.m., in House Hearing Room 5, at the Capitol.
