KC Fringe "Rumble in the City" review by vanfanivan

Tops Off and Pants Down the Best
Rating: 5

Rumble in the City
KC Fringe Festival

Somehow the best shows happen in the wonderful Off Center Stage.  I have been a huge fan of this burlesque troop for years.  They have the best venue and rightly so.  These people ooze professionalism.

There is not a bad thing to be said about this delightful show.  Don't expect to JUST see clothes come off.  You are going to laugh your pants off.

I still prefer to see the girl dancers and boy dancers do different shows.  That way we get 2 full hours of burlesque.  But this year, they spun burlesque on it's head.  Every number had both sexes battling it out to be the best.  This made it difficult for me to give my full attention to one performer, but it is certainly something I've never seen before.

The women were sexy as always, but the men made the show with their comedy.  And they had great bodies as well.  I came home hoarse from all the hooting and hollering.  This is a high energy show.

The opening number was engaging and the performers worked so well together.  It seems like they practiced a million times.

The highlights of the show, if I have to pick just a few were:

Ivory.  Ivory and the gorgeous man she danced with blew me away.

But the absolute best part was the performance to the True Blood theme song, I Want To Do Bad Things to You.  That number was worth the entire $10.  You had a male performer who was an accomplished dancer.  And 3 hot women to boot.  I won't give up anymore of the show, because everyone should see this.

My only complaint is that I miss the Boyesque dancer from last year and his mustard bit.  Bring back the mustard!  Does anyone remember that?

Do yourself a favor and see this show!  (Condiments optional)
