KC Fringe "Bottoms Up Sketch Comedy" review by aStrassle

A PUBLIC DISPLAY OF COMEDY
Rating: 4

Bottoms Up Sketch Comedy Show
KC Fringe Festival

I was able to talk with one of the cast members of Bottoms Up Sketch Comedy before the show started and he told me I wouldn't be able to put to words what him and his fellow cast members were going to do on stage. My response was that I would do my best to describe the hilarious cast of Kansas City's newest, homegrown sketch comedy troupe. I didn't know what I was in for, but I sure was looking forward to the show.

There's no way I can describe every scene, but some particular scenes from the sketch comedy performance stood out to me in particular.

I've always wondered why the Garmin navigation voice always sounded like a robot. The Bottoms Up Sketch Comedy troupe has explained why. They tell a story of a man, stricken with a terrible speech impediment as a child, who refused to let go of his dreams of becoming a voice over actor. Thanks to the navigation companies, we are forever welcomed by the robotic voice of a man who fulfilled his dreams when we turn on the navigation system in our cars.

Need more pep in your life? Then maybe you should try some Pep Air Water. Infused with a special ingredient of Constant Radical Attacking Citrus Kinetics (C.R.A.C.K.) you're sure to add some real pep into your step. I found this scene to be particularly hilarious just because of the acronym they created out of an illegal substance.

No one really likes public displays of affection. What about public displays of infection? Or erection? Or resurrection? These three scenarios make three hilarious scenes scattered throughout the performance.

We all mourn the loss of loved ones. Nothing could be worse though then losing your beloved and cherished PIZZA though. With quirky and poignant lines like "We loved that pizza", "The sauce is on your hands!" or "I wanted to raise that pizza…to my mouth," this scene was one of my favorites due to its originality and uniqueness.

That cast member I talked to before the show was correct. There's no way I can do justice to this show through words. You the reader have to go out and see this amazing show for yourself. The eight troupe members work fantastically together to form the hilarious Bottoms Up Sketch Comedy. As they themselves state, their performance will please anyone with a sense of humor (or father issues).
