Lull’d in these flowers with dances and delight;
And there the snake throws her enamell’d skin,
Weed wide enough to wrap a fairy in.”

So says Oberon, the king of the fairies, in William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” In spite of the brilliant dialogue, ballet seems to convey the “dances and delight” of Shakespeare’s comic masterpiece almost better than a spoken word performance, and the Kansas City Ballet will present William Whitener’s vision of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” for six performances beginning March 15 in the Muriel Kauffman Theatre.
